Context

In production environments the cost of an electrical problem is measured in downtime. Work is planned around shutdown windows, isolation procedures and the reality that plant must run again at the end of the shift. Documentation and labelling are part of the deliverable, not an afterthought.

Signs that assessment may be needed

• 03Motor control gear, starters or drives reaching end of service life
• 04Containment and cable routes that have grown without a plan

None of the above should be investigated by opening equipment, testing live circuits or resetting protective devices repeatedly. If any of it involves heat, smoke, water or a shock, read the safety guidance before anything else.
