Ten disciplines, one standard of documentation.

Each entry describes the problem it addresses, what assessment usually involves and what you receive at the end. Nothing is claimed that we would not put in a written scope.

Diagnose second.

Fire, smoke and electric shock injuries are matters for emergency services, not for a website form. For everything else, the sequence below reduces risk while you wait for a qualified attendance.

    Fire, smoke or injury

    Leave the area and contact your local emergency number. Do not attempt to isolate equipment that is burning.

  2. 02

    Stop using the circuit

    Unplug what you can reach safely and switch off the affected circuit at the board if the board itself is undamaged.

  3. 03

    Do not open equipment

    Covers, panels and fittings stay closed. Never work on, probe or reset equipment that is energised, wet or heat-damaged.

  4. 04

    Record what happened

    Note what was running, what tripped and whether it repeats. That detail shortens fault finding considerably.

Five stages, no surprises in the middle.

Pricing follows assessment. Where a condition on site could change the figure, it is written down as a condition before work starts — not discovered afterwards.

    Enquiry

    You describe the property, the symptom or the project. We ask the questions that determine whether an attendance, a survey or a written quotation is the right next step.

  2. 02

    Assessment

    Anything beyond a simple repair is surveyed before it is priced. Supply capacity, board condition, earthing, access and existing defects are recorded rather than assumed.

  3. 03

    Written scope

    You receive scope, exclusions, assumptions and price in writing. Where a site condition could change the figure, it is stated as a condition rather than discovered later.

  4. 04

    Execution

    Isolation, access and sequencing are agreed before work starts. Occupied properties and live sites are worked in stages so power loss is planned, not improvised.

  5. 05

    Test & document

    Circuits are tested, boards labelled and records issued. You keep a document describing what was installed, what was tested and what was recommended.

Assessment before price
Anything beyond a simple repair is surveyed. A number given without seeing the board is a guess, and guesses get corrected mid-job.
Labelled and recorded
Boards are labelled accurately and a circuit schedule is issued. The next electrician should not have to reverse-engineer the installation.
Testing on completion
Altered and new circuits are tested and the results are recorded in writing, appropriate to the work carried out.
Scope limits stated
Where something falls outside our scope — network supply, metering, active network configuration — we say so and identify who owns it.
